Green Lantern

The Green Lantern roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure is a thrilling stand-up coaster designed by Bolliger & Mabillard. It originally operated as Chang at Kentucky Kingdom before being relocated to Six Flags Great Adventure in 2011. The coaster features a striking green and yellow color scheme, fitting its superhero theme. Riders experience high speeds of up to 63 mph along a 4,155-foot-long track with a series of intense elements, including a 144-foot-tall drop, five inversions, and a mix of twists and turns. As a stand-up coaster, Green Lantern offers a unique experience, allowing riders to stand throughout the duration of the ride, adding to the excitement and intensity.

The Green Lantern at Six Flags Great Adventure is exciting for several reasons:

  1. Stand-Up Design: Unlike traditional seated coasters, Green Lantern features a stand-up design, where riders are secured in an upright position. This unique posture provides an added sense of vulnerability and thrill as you speed through the ride's elements.
  2. High Speeds and Height: With speeds reaching up to 63 mph and a towering 144-foot drop, Green Lantern offers adrenaline-pumping excitement. The initial drop alone gives riders a thrilling rush, setting the tone for the rest of the ride.
  3. Intense Inversions: The coaster includes five inversions, such as a vertical loop, dive loop, inclined loop, and corkscrews. These elements create moments of weightlessness, intense G-forces, and unexpected directional changes, keeping riders on the edge.
  4. Twists and Turns: Beyond the large drops and inversions, Green Lantern is filled with sharp twists, turns, and unexpected transitions. The coaster's layout keeps riders guessing and adds a sense of unpredictability, heightening the thrill.
  5. Visuals and Theme: The green and yellow track, combined with the ride's superhero theme, adds to the overall excitement. As riders navigate the course, the visuals of the surrounding park fly by, intensifying the sensation of speed and movement.

These elements combine to create a unique and exhilarating experience that sets Green Lantern apart from more conventional roller coasters.
