Wild Eagle

Wild Eagle is a steel wing coaster located at Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Opened in 2012, it was the first wing coaster in the United States. Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, Wild Eagle provides a unique riding experience with seats positioned on either side of the track, allowing riders to feel as if they are soaring through the sky.

The coaster reaches a height of 210 feet and features a 135-foot drop, achieving speeds of up to 61 mph. With four inversions, including a vertical loop, zero-g roll, Immelmann, and corkscrew, Wild Eagle offers thrilling and smooth maneuvers. Set against the backdrop of the Smoky Mountains, the ride not only provides adrenaline-pumping excitement but also breathtaking views, making it a standout attraction at Dollywood.

Wild Eagle offers an exhilarating experience for several reasons:

  1. Wing Coaster Design: The seats on Wild Eagle are positioned on either side of the track, with no floor below the rider’s feet, creating a unique "winged" sensation. This setup makes riders feel as if they are truly soaring through the air, adding to the thrill.
  2. Height and Speed: Standing at 210 feet tall and reaching speeds of up to 61 mph, Wild Eagle delivers a powerful combination of height and speed. The initial drop of 135 feet is particularly thrilling, giving riders a moment of free-fall excitement.
  3. Smooth Inversions: The coaster features four inversions, including a vertical loop, zero-g roll, Immelmann, and corkscrew. These elements provide a variety of dynamic motions, from weightless sensations to rapid directional changes, enhancing the overall excitement of the ride.
  4. Breathtaking Views: Set amidst the Smoky Mountains, Wild Eagle offers riders stunning panoramic views. The combination of scenic surroundings and the feeling of flight adds to the exhilaration, making the experience both visually and physically thrilling.
  5. Smooth Ride Experience: Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, the ride is known for its smooth, fluid motions, allowing riders to fully enjoy the elements without the discomfort often associated with rougher coasters.
  6. Theming and Location: The ride’s eagle-themed design, coupled with its placement high above Dollywood, gives riders a sense of freedom and adventure, aligning perfectly with the feeling of flying that the coaster aims to create. This thematic element contributes to the ride’s overall excitement.
